Skincare for self-care

When you’re a working parent, finding time to relax and take care of yourself can seem impossible. From washing the dishes to cooking dinner to tidying the house to taking your kids to places, it can seem like every minute of the day is crowded with other responsibilities.

However, there’s a simple way to take care of yourself with minimal time and effort: establishing a quick skincare routine. Set aside just 10 minutes before you go to bed to keep your skin clear and glowing and take some time to focus on yourself.

For starters, I’d recommend using a cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. After you brush your teeth, wash your face with a cleanser, and then follow up by applying an incredible toner that will leave your skin glowing and clean. After spreading the toner throughout your face with a cotton ball, wait for your face to dry and then apply a moisturizer. Your skin will thank you!

After a few nights of use, you’ll feel so much more relaxed and calm. You can even add serums or face oils to your routine, and these products cater to different skin concerns that you may have: anti-aging, acne, hyperpigmentation, or dullness.

Identifying your skin concerns and figuring out your skin type, whether it’s dry, combination, oily, acne-prone, sensitive, or normal, can help you find the products that will work best for you and your skin.

You have oily skin if it looks shiny, feels greasy, and is often prone to blemishes and breakouts. You have dry skin if it looks rough, scaly, flaky, itchy or irritated after a face wash. Combination skin has both dry and oily areas on your face; usually shiny on forehead, nose & chin while being dry on cheeks. Normal skin is not too dry or oily and is the easiest to take care of. Sensitive skin may have redness and dryness, and you may have reactions to products if it doesn’t suit your skin.

I have dry skin and I use the following 3 products:

For Oily or Acne-Prone:

For Normal or Combo skin:

If you have sensitive skin, look for products that are fragrance-free so it doesn’t irritate your skin. Also make sure all the products you use are non-comedogenic, meaning that they don’t clog your pores!:)

Finally, always make sure to eat healthy and exercise as they are best for healthy, clear skin.

Regardless of the skincare products that you decide to use, make sure you set aside just a few minutes every day to take care of your skin and your mental health by relaxing and taking time out for yourself. Your body will thank you! Drop your skincare routine below. 🙂

I have to admit, I often dread washing my face. I actually didn’t have a skincare routine for the first 28 years of my life. Then 2 years ago I saw a picture of me and my face was a hot mess. I have also found that cleanser, toner, then moisturizer is the perfect combo for me. And when I push through the dread and make sure I do this twice a day every day, I honestly feel SO MUCH BETTER about myself. It is truly self care. Thank you so much for sharing!

Thanks Brittany for sharing. I have also started this night time routine few months back only, it is def helping my dry skin. It is indeed a self-care for me!

I am a huge AVON fan! I use their rice water foaming face wash, the Anew micellar water as a toner, the Anew hydrafusion hyaluronic acid serum and finally Avon solutions firming cream! Oh, can’t forget my Anew platinum eye cream lol! EVERY single day. And my skin is rewarding me for it!!

I must admit, skin care is low on my list of priorities. But, I will also admit that it does feel good to goto bed with a clean, soft face! Thanks for recommendations!
