My list of things that I am thankful for and give thanks on Thanksgiving-

  1. Good health for self and family

As the saying goes, good health is the most important wealth. We may crave for worldly things but in the end our health is our most prized possession as you can not enjoy anything if not in good health.

2. Having a career I enjoy

I am fortunate to have a job that gives me fulfillment and satisfaction. As an educator I feel I am able to make a small difference and so glad to work at a school setting that I enjoy. I’m also thankful for my husband’s job, older one’s freshman college experience and younger one’s first year high school experience.

3. Able to foster cats

If you have been following my blog, you would know that we have started fostering cats this year after having a great experience fostering dogs since 2016. As my older one got ready to go to college this fall, my younger one put her interest to foster cats instead of dogs. We have had 4 cats so far- Oliver Twist and Dodger came together followed by Bon Bon and finally Onynx who was fortunately re-united back to her owner. It feels so fulfilling to give temporary homes to these abandoned pets and see them find their forever homes. They show so much love to us and make our home happy.

4. Loving husband and kids

I’m so blessed to have a loving and caring husband, and kids who bring joy and happiness in our lives. I have learned not to take things for granted and enjoy small memories I make with my family every day! My older is is here from college for the first time since she left in August and our home and heart is full.

5. Friends and family

Although I do not have any extended family here and the closest family members are in Canada and others far away in India, I am thankful for each one of them and the friends I have here who are just like family. Life would be incomplete without these cherished special people in our life.

6. Nature and outdoors and travel

God could not be everywhere so He put people in our lives and bountiful nature to see the goodness all around us. Nature is the best for leisure activities, physical/mental/spiritual health, reflective walks, quiet strolls and silent meditations. I feel simple breathing techniques done right can give us so much warmth and healing. Traveling brings me so much joy and happiness as I enjoy visiting new places and making beautiful memories with family.

7. Food

Food gives us the energy the same way vehicles need fuel. Healthy and good food is not only tasty but also nourish and nurture our body. It is very important to be mindful about what you are putting on your table and the nutrients that your trillions of cells get every day.

8. Weekends

So thankful for weekends that come every 5 days! They give me the chance to relax and recharge for the coming week. They help me slow down in my routine and not be a robot trying home-work balance. They give me time to do self care, self love and leisure activities which add hours and days to my life.

9. Books and music

Anything that you do in leisure for the sake of pleasure adds to the gratitude list of life. I enjoy reading books, blogging, listening to music and playing board games with family.

10. My faith

My faith makes me stronger and strives me to become a better person. Having the confidence that God is on our side, gives us boldness as well as humility. Faith teaches me to live a balanced life and accept everyone including myself with vices, virtues and everything else.
